MIDNIGHT SPIRIT bumped with a rival early, moved out under some urging, went four then five wide on the turn, rallied six wide into the stretch, closed strongly to get the lead under a left-handed whip outside the furlong marker, shook clear into the final sixteenth and proved best while held together late. WESTERN STAR was urged along off the pace, went three wide for most of the turn then dropped to the two path, angled out under a drive in upper stretch and finished with good energy but was too late while clear for the place. CAJUN NAVY was rated towards the front, dropped back near the half-mile pole, was asked four wide on the turn then came five wide into the stretch, chased into the final furlong and was out-kicked while able to get the show. MISTER DON was off slow and spotted the front a few lengths, angled in at the rear, raced inside early on the turn then shifted to the three path, swerved six wide late on the bend, drifted in inside the furlong marker, moved back out some late and improved position. FLASHBURN showed speed then disputed the pace on the outside, vied in the three path for most of the turn then dropped to the two path, battled under a drive into the final furlong and weakened. IMPRESSIVE GREELY broke a half-step slow, tracked the pace on the outside, chased four wide on the turn, made a bid outside the quarter-pole, took the lead in upper stretch, lost the advantage outside the furlong marker and tired. SOUTHERN LIGHT showed speed then chased the pace, went two then three wide on the turn, chased under a drive into upper stretch and came up empty. LONE STAR CLASS bumped with a rival early then dropped back, drifted out badly outside the half-mile pole, went five to seven wide on the turn and was no factor. HEZA FORTUNE bumped with an opponent early then moved out, was caught five wide early on the turn then quickly dropped to the two path and failed to respond. WAR ROGUE was hustled from the start then bumped with a rival early, contested the pace on the inside of a rival under strong urging, was taken up after dropping back inside the five-sixteenths and stopped. BABE REED was ridden along on the outside, dropped back fast while five wide on the turn and faltered.
