Chart notes
MEDINA SPIRIT set the pace pace from inside, inched away past the five-sixteenths pole, met challengers in upper stretch, held a short lead under right-handed urging through the final furlong and prevailed. ROMAN CENTURIAN trailed the field in the early going, went outside a rival on the backstretch, angled out and rallied four to five wide into the stretch, drifted in and bumped HOT ROD CHARLIE at the eighth pole, finished gamely three deep in the late stages but could not get by the winner. HOT ROD CHARLIE stumbled leaving the gate, tucked inside on the first turn, maneuvered off the rail on the backstretch, exited the far turn three to four wide, bid between in upper stretch, got bumped by ROMAN CENTURIAN at the eighth pole and battled gamely between runners to the wire. SPIELBERG bumped from inside at the start, traveled two wide and outside a rival around the first bend, came four wide into the stretch and lacked a rally. PARNELLI had early speed between foes early then took back a bit to stalk the top pair, was coaxed along at the three-eighths pole and faded in the drive. WIPE THE SLATE broke out and bumped rival, was closest in pursuit outside the leader, chased two wide around the far turn then came out a bit at the top of the lane and tired.
