Chart notes
HAIL SOUTHERN broke sharply, dictated the pace on a narrow advantage racing a bit off the rail through the backstretch, extended that margin on the turn, then shifted inwards nearing midstretch to hold the challenge of POWERFUL MOON to the end under firm handling. The latter broke readily, prompted the pacesetter racing to the turn, conceded some position entering the bend, then was roused to advance entering upper stretch while shifting inside the leader but proved only second best. ALMONASTER tracked the leaders in second flight while racing four deep between foes in the opening stages, then continued in that path to upper stretch finishing evenly for a share. STRIKING MIKE was rated between foes just off the second flight racing into the turn, shifted about under pressure through the stretch but had no closing bid. NOT INVENTED HERE tracked just off the leaders inside rivals as part of the second flight racing into the turn and steadily faded entering the stretch. CAPTAIN LIO, a bit outpaced while angling to the inside, shifted three wide in the closing stages but offered no rally. UPRISE came under pressure in early stages tracking the leaders five wide in second flight racing to the turn and gave way abruptly entering the bend.
