Chart notes
SENOR JOBIM broke out at the start, moved in while going to the front then shook clear, went around the turn in the two path, floated four wide into the stretch, responded well in the final furlong and just held under steady urging. MAN OF HONOR moved out while urged along towards the front, went three wide on the turn, turned into upper stretch under a drive, pursued the winner into the final furlong, gained fast on that foe into the final sixteenth but missed while able to get the place. PERUVIAN BOY was reserved off the pace under restraint, went three wide while let out on the turn, came four wide into the stretch, gained into the final sixteenth and earned the show. LAFITTE'S FLEET had a shoe repaired in the paddock, settled at the rear of the field, went three wide on the turn, dropped to the two path under the crop into the stretch and improved position. FLYING CURLIN was hard held towards the rear, raced inside early on the turn then shifted three wide, swung six wide into the stretch, moved out near the sixteenth-pole and gained some but failed to threaten. MISTER K was urged along towards the back, went four wide on the turn, came seven wide into the stretch and failed to threaten while gaining in the final furlong. SIR TRUEBADOUR broke in and bumped with a foe, showed speed on the inside of a foe then was taken back off the pace, moved out shortly thereafter, chased in the three path on the turn, came six wide into the stretch, drifted out near the sixteenth-pole and capitulated. ON YOUR MARK bumped with a rival at the start, settled off the pace, saved ground on the turn, was put to a drive into upper stretch and failed to respond.
