Chart notes
COWBOY DIPLOMACY went four to five wide on the first turn, stalked the pace on the outside, turned up the pressure in the three path on the far turn, took the lead coming to the quarter-pole, responded well when set down in upper stretch, battled outside the runner-up into the final furlong, drifted out near the sixteenth-pole then was straightened by the rider and proved best while placed under a hand ride to the wire. SIR ALFRED JAMES broke out a bit then was hustled to the lead, set the pace in the two path, was asked under threat on the far turn, lost the advantage to the winner approaching the quarter-pole, fought on with the winner into the final furlong and was outfinished while just able to get the place. SPRAWL was caught five to six wide for most of the first turn then dropped to the three path, was rated off the pace, went three wide on the far turn, was roused near the five-sixteenths, moved out under a drive in upper stretch then drifted further out before being straightened at the furlong marker and improved position to just miss the place while clear for the show. BLUE JAYS went three to four wide on the turns and failed to threaten. PIT BOSS went four wide on the first turn, was rated off the pace, chased four wide on the far turn, turned into the stretch under the crop and tired. EXTRAORDINARY was well placed just off the pace on the inside, drafted along the rail on the far turn, was asked at the quarter-pole and came up empty. HARVEY WALLBANGER went around the first turn in the two path, settled towards the rear, was urged two then three wide on the far turn, swung five wide into the stretch, moved further out under a drive around the three-sixteenths and failed to respond.
