MONTE NE stalked the pace two wide, came three wide into the lane, closed outside, took over leaving the eighth pole and edged ahead under a steady drive. THE VIRGINIAN pressed the pace two wide, took the lead nearing the quarter pole, led between rivals through the midstretch and held well to preserve the place. CAPTAIN RON raced off the pace two wide, came in and bumped WEEKEND DREAMER near the quarter pole, angled out nearing the eighth pole, continued on the left lead and rallied for the show. SMOKE ALARM set the pace along the rail, vied to midstretch and weakened. ZANNO went evenly three wide. AMOR LEJANO (ARG) played no factor while racing two wide. WEEKEND DREAMER bobbled at the start, saved ground, was bumped and forced to check nearing the quarter pole and had no further bids.
