Chart notes
EXTRACTOR set the fractions through the turn, saved ground on the turn while being pressured up front, was roused into the stretch and kicked clear in the end. SATANTA settled just off of the early pace, was three wide outside of horses on the turn, swung four wide for the drive to make a bid in the stretch and while not challenging the winner was a clear second. PEQUENO MONTE settled in the middle of the field, saved ground on the turn while behind horses, gained position into the stretch but was outfinished, while holding on to third. AFTERNOON HEAT had no speed early, saved ground along the turn while still at the back, passed tiring rivals in the stretch and just missed for third. CRACK A COLD ONE pressed the pace through the turn while two wide outside of the leader, lost position heading into the drive and tired in the stretch run. KATZUMOTO was pinballed by rivals soon after the start, was two wide along the turn while chasing the leaders and tired in the stretch drive.
