Chart notes
XMASINTHECITY quickly sprinted clear, set the pace near the inner rail and was under brisk urging in the drive. BACKWOODS BOOGIE bore in leaving the starting gate, circled the turn three wide and rallied. GINS AND TINS , caught in tight quarters leaving the starting gate, circled the turn, was fanned six deep turning for home, remained on his left lead and rallied. READY TO RUN stalked the pace well off the rail, bobbled near the eighth pole and weakened. PYSER'S ORB bore out leaving the starting gate, steadied in tight quarters inside horses leaving the backstretch, raced in the three path between rivals leaving the turn and failed to rally. NO FOOLING DUDE , in close quarters leaving the starting gate, raced along the inner rail on the turn and failed to menace. CONFUSION BABY BOY , four deep on the turn, drifted to the five path entering the stretch and weakened. BARNSTORM was outrun. VERN H fell in mid stretch after sustaining a catastrophic injury and was euthanized on the track. There was a stewards' inquiry concerning the stretch run but no action was taken. PER RULING FROM THE MARYLAND RACING COMMISSION, XMASINTHECITY WAS DISQUALIFIED FOR POSITIVE TEST.
