Chart notes
REBEL TRAVELLER pursued the loose pacesetter, battled through the stretch, lost the advantage then came again in a blanket finish. O'BRIEN chased wide throughout, held a narrow lead in midstretch but was outfinished. SHPILKES dropped back near the inside, swung wide into the stretch and closed well. KODAPENDENT settled inside, bid on the final turn then steadied in tight late. CONTENTED NOW broke slowly, advanced inside and finished gamely. AUSTIN WHYLIE set a clear pace, was collared on the final turn then proved empty in the stretch. TALL SHIP prompted the pace for half a mile and gave way. NICKY DA FOX dropped far behind and was never in contention. CREATIVE JOY bore out into the first turn and stopped abruptly. The stewards conducted an inquiry into the incident nearing the finish.
