Chart notes
SMOKIN' JAY was well rated on the inside to the top of the stretch, swung out three wide for racing room, made a bid in the stretch to get up in time under a drive. FORT FORTITUDE was rated along three wide early and was four wide entering the stretch, finished well to be gaining late but was outfinished. SKY MAGICIAN dueled for the lead on the inside, dug in gamely in the stretch but faded in deep stretch. CHAPALU was reserved early, advanced four wide on the turn but needed more in the drive. BROOKS ROBINSON dueled for the lead three wide but faded in the drive. KINGPIN was settled ion two to three wide on the turn, angled in nearing the sixteenth pole but had no serious rally. THE BOSS FACTOR failed to menace. JACK THE UMPIRE failed to respond.
