Chart notes
MELCHIOR broke sharply to duel for the lead from the inside, opened a clear margin nearing the quarter and drew off through the lane as a handy winner. DOCTOR BRUCE S. was reserved just off the leaders from the inside, angled out into the stretch, drifted in nearing the sixteenth pole and could not gain on the winner late. BERNIE lacked early foot, saved ground through the turn, remained inside for the drive, checked nearing the sixteenth pole and finished willingly when clear. IRISH SWING chased the leaders while racing five-wide and failed to gain in the drive. HIGHIWANTTOBEON lagged early, raced three-wide through the turn, drifted in nearing the three-sixteenths marker and finished with a belated bid. PROUDTOBESICILIAN was away in good order to dispute the pace with the winner while racing three-wide and weakened after going a half. REGAZZE CAT was void of early speed, raced three-wide through the turn, angled out further into the lane and was not a factor. LAST ONE STANDING was hustled along to press the pace while racing four-wide and weakened after going three furlongs.
