ONWARD AUSTIN broke in at the start, darted to the lead to set the early pace, was in the three path into the lane, remained a short advantage near the eighth pole under a long drive and held off rival in the final stages. DRIFTER hopped outward at the start, chased the leader early, came out near the three eighths pole, was in the four path into the lane, made a bid in the stretch but did not have enough in the final stages. NICE STAR chased the pace early, was bothered and steadied near the three eighths pole, raced in the three path into the lane, made a bid in the stretch but flattened out late in the drive. PAPA JR was bothered at the start, chased the pace early on, was on the inside into the lane and leveled off late in the drive. WATSONS BAY was in the four path into the lane with a minor gain in the stretch run. LUCK OF THE STARS ducked in at the start and trailed the field throughout.
