Chart notes
BLAZING FIRE took command up the rail soon after the start, shook clear turning for home, not threatened in the run to the wire, geared down late to win ridden out. PERFECT PERIGEE in the second flight off the inside, three wide turning for home, no match for the winner late, clearly second best. CAJUN NAVY lacked early foot, crept a bit closer late in the turn, came four wide into the stretch, finished up best of the rest. FIRST METAL COUNT broke alertly, early lead, relinquished advantage, pressed, began a steady after three furlongs. COAST GUARDSMAN tracked the early pace inside, within striking distance early in the turn, steadied when in tight along the rail turning for home, fell back and came up empty for the stretch run. BETTIN ON BRYAN trailed throughout in showing little.
