Chart notes
HOT ROD CHARLIE tracked early on, then settled into a stalking position racing two wide, moved up three wide on the far turn, bid four wide passing the quarter pole, rallied outside rivals to a short lead nearing the furlong marker, drifted in in front of MIDNIGHT BOURBON causing that rival to clip heels, then battled heads apart with MANDALOUN in a spirited duel to the wire and got the nod. MANDALOUN tracked the leaders racing close up on the rail, was well placed behind rivals on the backside, waited for room on the far turn, moved up between horses at the quarter pole, found a seam two wide turning for home, responded and rallied willingly inside rivals, then dug in gamely on the rail and battled heads apart with HOT ROD CHARLIE in the final sixteenth to the wire. FOLLOWING SEA set the pace on the inside, vied inside of MIDNIGHT BOURBON on the backside, dueled on the far turn, could not go with the leaders in upper stretch, weakened and then checked at the eighth pole to avoid a fallen rider. ANTIGRAVITY raced off the pace inside, saved ground on the far turn and failed to threaten. PICKIN' TIME was bumped at the start, raced off the pace between rivals, chased between on the far turn, tired and was steadied in the stretch to avoid a fallen rider. BASSO broke outward and was steadied a bit, raced three wide off the pace, gave way and was steadied in the stretch to avoid a fallen foe. MIDNIGHT BOURBON bobbled and was bumped at the start, raced three wide early, moved up to press the pace, then vied outside, dueled on the far turn, briefly gained command, dueled between horses in upper stretch, then clipped the heels of HOT ROD CHARLIE at the eighth pole, stumbled badly and lost the rider.
