OKIE BUCK rushed form outset and established a two path pose, just on the outside of STEPPIN SHEP, then matched strides with that rival around the turn, locked into a stretch duel with that rival and won the nod at the wire for the honors. STEPPIN SHEP hustled away at the break and assumed a ground saving stance, rated alongside OKIE BUCK through the bend and into the stretch, locked into a stretch duel with that rival, then was outnodded at the wire and forced to settle for place. SWAY BACK WHEN hurried from the break and set the pace around the turn, led the field at deep stretch and was caught by the rallying, dueling pair in the final sixteenth. ZANE GRAY came away behind rivals, trailed the field through the bend, and passed a wide rival in the final furlong. GENTLE GEORGE chased rivals along the backstretch, then lost ground to front runners with an extra wide trip into upper stretch.
