LEXITONIAN showed good speed, set the pace under pressure from the outside, vied along the rail while inside of two foes on the turn, spun off the inside under a strong hand-ride into upper stretch, came under a right-handed crop around the three-sixteenths, battled gamely with the runner-up in the final furlong and gamely prevailed under strong urging. SPECIAL RESERVE was hustled from the start, pressed the pace on the outside of two foes, drew even in the three path on the turn, led in the four path into the stretch, was put to the crop at the eighth-pole, dueled with the winner in the final furlong and was denied while able to get the place. WHITMORE bumped with MILES AHEAD when FIRENZE FIRE came out in front outside the five-eighths, moved in outside the half-mile pole, went around most of the turn in the two path, dropped to the rail outside the quarter-pole, gained inside under a drive into the final furlong, moved out outside the sixteenth-pole, swapped back to his inside lead late and finished with good courage for the show. MONTAUK TRAFFIC broke out and a bit slow then was corrected by the rider, settled at the rear of the field, traveled around most of the turn in the two path, shifted three then four wide late on that bend, swung seven wide into upper stretch and improved position for the last spot in the superfecta. FIRENZE FIRE was taken up while in tight between horses early, moved out while ridden along, went four wide on the turn, was driven six wide into upper stretch then carried out some into the final furlong and lacked the needed response. STRIKE POWER was hustled from the start, pressed the pace while loosely between horses, vied between foes in the two path on the turn, dropped back three wide into the stretch, moved out while falling further back into the final furlong and tired. THREE TECHNIQUE broke a step slow. paused behind FIRENZE FIRE early after that foe was taken up, moved in midway down the backstretch, saved ground under urging on the turn, moved to the two path approaching the quarter-pole and failed to threaten. MISCHEVIOUS ALEX broke out but was quickly corrected by the rider, established a good position behind the leading trio, chased two then three wide on the turn, floated five wide into upper stretch, drifted out while dropping back into the final furlong and had nothing left. MILES AHEAD lost his footing at the start and broke a step slow, bumped with WHITMORE outside the five-eighths, went five wide on the turn, came eight wide into upper stretch and failed to respond.
