MARIPOSA RAPIDA raced on the inside along the first turn, chased the early pace, was off the rail into the lane while making a bid, took over command from the inside down the lane, drew clear and held sway in the final stages. BELLE OF ST. JOHN raced in the four path along the first turn and set the early pace, opened up on the field down the backstretch, was off the rail into the lane, drifted out nearing the eighth pole and was overtaken but came again late and did not have enough. LA ROSA broke in the air at the start, raced in the five path along the first turn, chased the pace, was in the three path into the lane while making a bid but weakened late in the stretch run.
