Chart notes
LIGHTNING ROD assumed the early lead, set the pace near the inner rail and pulled away through the stretch while under encouragement. CONTENTED NOW , a forward factor along the inner rail, chased the winner for six furlongs, weakened and held the place. IRISHMAN lacked speed in the two path between horses, swung wide in upper stretch and passed tired foes. LEFT BLANK saved ground around the turns and gave way. MR. J. MCKAY , three deep both turns, retreated through the stretch. DANCE ON THE MOON chased the winner down the backstretch and gave way on the far turn.
