Chart notes
LEO MONTE was off a step slow, vied inside for the early lead, then stalked, chased on the far turn, came two wide into the stretch, rallied outside past midstretch, surged late and was just up for a narrow victory. SURFING vied two wide for the early lead, took over to set the pace, showed the way on the far turn, kicked clear in upper stretch, dug in gamely and was nailed at the wire. PAL raced off the pace, moved up three wide on the backside, chased three wide on the turn, rallied mildly outside in the final furlong and got third. HOLY GUACAMOLE tracked on the inside, chased inside on the far turn, rallied mildly inside and was outkicked for third. STEEL PIER stalked two wide, chased on the far turn, raced inside into the stretch and weakened. CASH KID was outrun early and did not factor. WILD PRAYER raced off the pace, came two wide into the lane and failed to threaten. NITTANY LION was off slowly and steadied, then did not factor. The race was HAND TIMED.
