Chart notes
AMERICAN BOURBON broke alertly and set the early fractions, rated nicely through the backstretch, saved ground on the second turn, opened the lead off of the turn and pulled away in the end. MALIBU JEWEL sat just off of the early pace, saved ground on the second turn, lost ground to the winner off of the bend but kept on in the final stages to win the nod for second. STARS OF BLUEGRASS settled in the midflight in the early going, improved position on the second turn while three wide but was outfinished in the stretch, just missing for second. TOTALLY NORMAL tracked the early pace from a ground saving position and weakened in the stretch run. BORN TO REIGN settled toward the rear of the field, was three wide on the second turn and did not have a late kick in the stretch. FOGGY BOTTOM had no speed in the early stages, saved ground on the second turn and did not rally in the stretch. NORTHERN ROSE settled near the rear of the field, was four to five wide on the second turn and was not a factor.
