Chart notes
WELL SPENT tracked the pace four wide, ranged up to the leading group turning for home, took aim on a bidding BLOSSOM ROAD in upper stretch, forged an advantage at the furlong grounds, and drove clear. BLOSSOM ROAD stalked three wide, bid for the lead entering the lane outside of LICHITA, dueled with that foe through upper stretch, but was outkicked by an outer rival at the furlong grounds, and proved second best. LICHITA set the pace inside of a pressing ESCAPE FUND, dug in to resist BLOSSOM ROAD's bid at the quarter pole, dueled through upper stretch, but yielded to that foe and another outer rival approaching the furlong pole. KEWPIE DOLL stalked along the inside, got outmoved by outer bidding rivals turning for home, then failed to rally thereafter. FIELD DAISEY broke a step slowly, trailed the field in the two to three path around the turn, shifted five wide in upper stretch, but failed to factor. ESCAPE FUND reared in the gate multiple times, pressed the pace two wide under steady urging, then weakened between horses passing the five sixteenths pole.
