WEST LEONARD was in hand early, rallied four wide at the quarter pole, closed stoutly and drew clear late under strong handling. VICTORY DIVISION had good position throughout, rallied late four wide and was up for place. CHIEF BIG HEAD was unhurried early, swung seven wide in the stretch and closed fast to be gaining. POWERS OUT dueled on the early lead, gained a clear lead in mid stretch and faltered late. GRAND STRATEGY had good position early, rallied at the quarter pole and drew even, hung late. CONEY ISLAND KID allowed to settle, failed to menace. IRON MEN OF METZ set the early pace and was through after a half.
