Chart notes
COBBLE ROAD showed good early speed to set the pace, opened up a comfortable margin, showed the way on the far turn, responded when roused entering the stretch, dug in gamely in the final furlong and held on determinedly. ROAN MOUNTAIN raced off the pace inside, chased inside on the far turn, angled out, came three wide into the stretch, rallied outside of COBBLE ROAD, dug in gamely in the lane and came up second best. CELTIC TREASURE raced two wide off the pace, chased on the far turn, lacked a winning bid and finished evenly in the lane. MUCHO MACHO EDDIE stalked two wide, then chased three wide and failed to respond. NINE TOE JOHNNY raced off the pace inside, chased three wide on the far turn and faded. HANDY raced three wide off the pace and never factored.
