Chart notes

GOLD BEAR settled on the backstretch two wide, was saving ground to bid three wide on the far turn, then dug in gamely, passed the leader mid-stretch and was driving to the wire. SMART CALL dueled two wide on the first turn, then took the lead entering the backstretch, was in a long drive, drew clear on the far turn, but gave way in late stretch. ISTAN WARRIOR dueled from the inside on the first turn, then settled along the rail, made bid on the far turn but flattened out in the stretch drive. VETERAN'S HOLIDAY bobbled at the start then ducked out, was unhurried early, then made mild rally on the far turn but was no factor. PICKLE SNAPPER trailed throughout.
