VENEZUELAN TRIUMPH, reserved outside foes off the second flight racing to the backstretch, made a sharp advance to join the pacesetter three deep entering the far turn, pressed the issue in that path to gain a narrow advantage nearing upper stretch, drifted out entering the lane contesting the issue to late stages but couldn't contain the winner.
