Chart notes
WAR GAMES broke alertly and was sent to the early lead, set solid fractions while rating nicely through the backstretch run, extended the lead in upper stretch, was kept to task through the final stages and was clear in a wire to wire win. GOVENOR'S PARTY broke out at the break and was off a step slowly, settled along the inside, saved all of the ground into the second turn, rallied through the final furlong and was outkicked by the winner in the end but was up for second. NAVY ARMED GUARD attended to the pace on the first turn while three wide, stayed in close pursuit of the solid pace through the backstretch run, lost ground to the winner on the second turn and into the drive and was outfinished in the final stages, while clear of the rest for third. AMERICAN FARMER settled three to four wide off of the early pace, came under a ride on the second turn and lacked a late response. STALKING SHADOW settled two wide off of the early pace, lost position along the backstretch run, was asked for run on the second turn and did not offer a late bid.
