EXPROMPT (FR) angled inside early, moved easily to contention on the turn, swung four wide into the stretch, offered a late surge and rallied clear. CITY DRIFTER prompted the pace outside, vied through the turn, led briefly near midstretch but weakened. MERLIN'S SONG dropped far behind, moved wide in the stretch with late energy. NEVER HAVE I EVER (IRE) settled outside, bid three wide on the turn, vied into the lane then faltered. MIDNIGHT BLUE NOTE trailed despite early urging then caught a stopping rival late. GREELEYS ICE hustled to the front inside, dueled through the turn and came up empty in the lane.
