Chart notes
SUMMER LIGHTNING made the lead down the backstretch, drawing clear of the field by the turn, fighting all the way to the wire, to just hold off foes and hold on for the win in a blanket finish. REDEFINITION pressed the pace, while saving ground, racing along the inside rail, then rallied down the lane and was outnodded at the wire for a game second. HEATED ARGUMENT chased the pace down the backstretch, then angled out at the quarter pole and closed fast to get up for a tough third. DUTCH TREAT had no early foot and closed up the rail, but was no threat. SWEET BAY stalked the pace, three wide, made a bid on the turn and faltered late. FAST N FINE WORKER got off slow and drifted out from the gate, going three wide and was no menace.
