Chart notes
IT CAN Close up along the three path into the turn, dropped down to the rail midway around, slipped inside into the lane while challenging for the lead, drifted out nearing the sixteenths pole making it tight on BETTY'S SMILE, continued forcing the latter out and then was able to turn back MIND OF GOLD for the win. MIND OF GOLD Vied for the lead along the three path into the turn, three across into the lane, battled outside and then was forced out some through the final sixteenths by the winner. BETTY'S SMILE Contested the lead along the two path, between into the lane, stayed that way, was bothered at the sixteenths pole by the winner and then was in tight while steadying to the wire. IMPRSSTHEPROFESSOR Broke slow, lagged far back along the rail, was outrun. A Stewards inquiry was posted concerning the stretch run, resulted in the disqualification of IT CAN from first to third.
