Chart notes
TONKAWA SPRINGS stalked the pace four wide into the stretch, responded readily in the four path when asked with a right handed whip, made the lead past the furlong marker and drew off under brisk handling. SMUDGE THE CAT away alertly, set the pace along the inside until mid stretch then was no match for the winner. C C'S CLEAR CREEK pressed the pace two wide into the stretch and was outfinished. DUKE OF FENWAY was a sharp threat three wide into the turn, steadied nearing the quarter pole then finished evenly. ON HIS TOES stumbled badly at the start and failed to menace. JOEY THE CARPENTER had brief speed five wide. ALL FOR GOLD was never close.
