Chart notes
FLAWLESS BOURBON well placed and off the rail, gained position on the two path through the second turn, bid outside the leader into the stretch, edged ahead and held. SUMMER PALACE tracked the pace well back, saved ground through the turns, angled out to bid three wide into the stretch and lacked the needed late kick. K. K. ICHIKAWA allowed to settle, moved up three wide through the second turn, bid four wide into the lane and edged up for the show late. BIG FRANK allowed to settle, saved ground through the turns, came through inside and passed tiring rivals. PUNX sent from the gate, sprinted clear quickly, drew off down the backstretch, then faded the final furlong. WHOOPS well placed, steadily lost ground.
