Chart notes
TALISKER BAY was unhurried in the early stages, was roused to go four wide into the drive, came within aim nearing the furlong marker, matched strides with the runner-up into the final stages and determinedly prevailed. NICKEL NICKEL NINE was allowed to settle in the early going, saved ground to the second turn, came five wide into the drive, vied for the lead nearing the furlong marker, matched strides with the winner in the final stages and was nipped for the win, while besting the rest. AROLLERCOASTERRIDE broke out at the start, raced in midpack while three wide on the first turn, improved position on the far turn while three wide, vied for the lead nearing the eighth pole and was outfinished by the top pair, while clear of the rest for third. MOGOLLON RIM settled in midflight early on while saving ground, lost position on the second turn, gained ground in upper stretch, steadied and was squeezed nearing the sixteenth-marker and did not have a late response. SMILING AT VAL showed early speed and prompted the quick pace through the second turn, vied for the lead approaching the eighth pole, drifted in under right-handed urging nearing the sixteenth-marker and gave way in the late stages. CAT GAMER was hustled leaving the break and led into the first turn, set quick fractions while being prompted into the second turn, came under pressure in upper stretch, steadied and hit the rail nearing the sixteenth-marker and weakened in the final stages. UNION GIG settled off of the early top pair, maintained a two wide path into the second turn, advanced in upper stretch but could not sustain that run and gave way in the end. THE STEWARDS CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN AND RULED UNANIMOUSLY THAT SMILING AT VAL IMPEDED MOGOLLON RIM AND CAT GAMER NEARING THE SIXTEENTH-MARKER AND SMILING AT VAL WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM FIFTH AND PLACED SIXTH.
