Chart notes
SOUTHEAST ASIA was off a step slowly, recovered and tracked the modest early pace, was roused from a four wide path nearing the quarter marker, vied for the lead nearing the eighth pole, was kept to task under firm handling and proved best in the end. GOVERNOR ARTHUR was forwardly placed into the first turn, attended to the pace through the second turn, vied for the lead in upper stretch, made contact with KALINE in deep stretch and was outfinished in the final sixteenth, while just holding for second over an oncoming rival. ORCZY (IRE) was unhurried, saved ground through the backstretch run, mounted a three wide rally into the drive and just missed for second in the end, while just securing the show. SUGAR BEETS settled off of the early pace, came five wide into the backstretch run, maintained that five wide path into the far turn, gained ground in upper stretch but was outkicked in the final stages and just missed for the minor awards. KALINE was hustled leaving the break and cleared the field into the first turn, set pedestrian fractions while prompted by GOVERNOR ARTHUR into the second turn, was overtaken inside of the eighth pole, drifted out in deep stretch and weakened in the final stages. TWIRLING DERBY stalked the early pace from an inside position, ran evenly through the backstretch run, lost ground on the second turn and did not mount a late rally.
