Chart notes
A MAN'S MAN stalked the early pace to the first turn, came five wide into the backstretch run, ran evenly to the half-mile marker, made a three wide move nearing the quarter pole, overtook CHIEF JACKSON in upper stretch, drove clear inside of the furlong grounds and was ridden out in the late stages. AMERICA GREAT was forwardly placed into the first turn, came four wide into the backstretch run, lost ground on the far turn, was outkicked in upper stretch but kept on to get up for second in the final strides. MOUNT PELLIAR had an awkward start and was off slowly, was steered to the rail along the first turn, lost ground on the backstretch run and into the second turn and did not offer a late rally. CHIEF JACKSON was asked to show early speed and led the field into the first turn, went three wide into the backstretch run, carved out moderate fractions through the backstretch run, came under pressure nearing the quarter marker, was overtaken by the winner in upper stretch, stayed on to mid-stretch then gave way in the final stages. KODIACTION was unhurried early on, lost ground on the backstretch run, came three wide to the quarter pole and did not mount a late rally.
