Chart notes
WINTER SON broke in a step at the start and was corrected, chased three then two wide from mid pack, swung three wide into upper stretch roused for the drive, rallied to split foes a furlong from home seizing command just inside the eighth pole, then dug in gamely to fend off the runner up to the wire. JUST SAY WHEN hustled from the gate, led early on from the two path before briefly engaging FAST N FEARIOUS conceding the lead half a mile out, tucked inside and eased off into the turn, angled out four to five wide into upper stretch under a drive, rallied to threaten for it all late but was ultimately repelled to the finish. STARRYSTARRYKNIGHT three wide in pursuit from near the rear of the field, came under coaxing near the quarter pole and went eight wide into upper stretch, closed well to secure the show honors. KING MOONRACER coaxed from the start, raced six paths off the inside down the backstretch and then three to four wide through the turn coaxed along from the five-sixteenths, went eight wide into upper stretch, offered up a bid a furlong out, then flattened out in the very late stages. PROPENSITY hustled from the gate, raced forwardly placed five paths off the inside down the backstretch before advancing three wide through the turn, continued three wide for home and seized command straightened away, dug in under threat and was collared just inside the eighth pole, then weakened in the late stages. U. S. STEEL broke out at the start bumping COLD AS HELL into STANHOPE and pinching back COLD AS HELL against that rival, raced four to five paths off the inside down the backstretch, tucked to the two path through the turn coming under coaxing near the quarter pole, took the inside route into upper stretch and stayed on one paced to the finish. ME 'N SAP coaxed from the gate, raced six paths off the inside down the backstretch and then three wide through the turn, went seven wide into upper stretch and made no impact. COLD AS HELL got bumped at the start by U.S. STEEL and in turn bumped STANHOPE askew, chased four wide coming under coaxing at the five-sixteenths, angled in to spin just off the inside for home and offered no rally. DARK TIMBER bobbled at the break, chased just off the inside under coaxing from the five-sixteenths, angled six wide into upper stretch and weakened. STANHOPE got bumped solidly at the start by COLD AS HELL due to pressure from U.S. STEEL breaking outwards and was knocked askew, raced four paths off the inside in aim of the leader, tucked to the two path through the turn advancing to pressure that rival before taking command spinning in the two path at the quarter pole, yielded the front straightened away and weakened. FAST N FEARIOUS coaxed from the start, raced three wide in aim before briefly tussling with JUST SAY WHEN, took over lone command at the half mile pole and tucked inside through the turn under pressure from a pair, yielded the front and cut the corner into upper stretch, then tired in the drive.
