Chart notes
MISTER ICEMAN vied three deep early, fought with a pair of rivals while moving to the rail around the bend, drifted out under left-handed urging and held gamely. HAWKER chased from outside early, moved in some the began to climb and dropped back, moved closer four then five wide on the turn, rallied outside a pair of rivals but could not get by the winner. CARMEL ROAD was off slow to begin, raced near the back, rounded the bend three then four wide, bid between in the stretch and got put in tight late halting all momentum. DR. SOULFIRE vied four deep for command early, chased the leaders around the turn while angling in and kept on for a minor award. EAKLY vied six deep up the backstretch, three deep at the three-eighths pole, lost touch with the leaders at the five-sixteenths pole, came three wide into the lane and weakened. HILL OF TARA was off slow from outside, tracked five wide into the turn, angled down to the three path, steered out in the lane and improved position. AIR KENNEY vied five deep for command up the backstretch, between foes early on the turn then outside the winner, chased three wide leaving the turn and faded. HEARTBREAK KID vied between rivals for command, moved in a bit and bumped rival past the half-mile pole, dropped back on the turn and tired. PACIFIC STATES broke in but still came away quickly, went up to battle from inside, got bumped past the half-mile pole, failed to keep up around the bend and faded. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE INCIDENT BETWEEN MISTER ICEMAN, HAWKER AND CARMEL ROAD IN DEEP STRETCH. AFTER A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT THE CARMEL ROAD WAS NOT COST A CHANCE AT A BETTER POSITION AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
