Chart notes
MIDNIGHT J J lead the way into the first turn to duel from the inside on the backstretch into the second turn, gained command at the quarter pole, then drew off in the stretch and was ridden out to the end to prove best. CONTACT TRACING dueled for the lead from the two path, was in a long drive, was headed by an inner rival for the place position on the turn, then came on again in the stretch to retake the place prize in the end. UNDERDRESSED chased the pace from the inside, was in a steady drive, then rallied gamely on the turn, gained the place position then gave way in the end and was best for show. FLY NIGHTLY tracked the pace from the inside and was in a steady drive throughout the turn and continued to race evenly in the stretch. CLASSIC KING chased the pace while two wide then bid while four wide on the turn then flattened out in the stretch. MOONSHINE NOW tracked the pace from the two path, was moving on the turn to bid five wide in the stretch but flattened out. CALIFORNIA SWING was unhurried early and no factor.
