Chart notes
DAY PLAN broke alertly then took back off of the quick early pace, tracked the speed three wide through the turn, overtook the pacesetter leaving the bend, drew clear in mid-stretch and was kept to task in the final sixteenth. TIP TOP GAL chased the quick early pace, ran evenly through the turn while two wide, was outkicked by DAY PLAN in the stretch run but stayed on in the final stages to hold for second. UNSOLVED MYSTERY bothered DAMN THE TORPEDOES at the start, lacked speed in the early stages, improved position nearing mid-stretch, could not make headway on the top two in the lane and was outfinished late, while clear of the rest for third. DANCING CRANE showed early speed and raced close to the early pace, came under a tight hold into the turn, lost position nearing the top of the lane and lacked a late response. DAMN THE TORPEDOES was bothered at the start by UNSOLVED MYSTERY and was off slowly, chased the pace to the turn, gained ground three deep nearing the quarter marker, swung five wide into upper stretch, could not sustain that run in the drive and flattened out late. CRYSTAL PROOF was sent to the early lead, set fast contested fractions to the quarter marker, could not hold off DAY PLAN leaving the bend, chased the leaders to mid-stretch and tired in the final furlong.
