Chart notes
MEXICAN WONDER BOY went to the lead to set all the pace, was challenged from outside rival at the five sixteenths, dueled around the final turn and in the stretch drive, drifted out and bumped PIPES AND DRUMS in late stretch but kept on and just lasted, took a bad step after the wire and was vanned off. PIPES AND DRUMS was allowed to settle around the first turn in the middle of the pack then moved up three wide on the backstretch, engaged the leader at the five sixteenths pole, battled around the turn and down the stretch, was bumped by MEXICAN WONDER BOY and just missed. COSMIC TRAIN was unhurried down the backstretch then moved out to three wide at the quarter pole but was no match for the top two. JIMI'S A STAR saved ground throughout and passed tiring rival. MILITARY BEARING was placed off the pace around the first turn in the two path then moved between horses at the three eighths pole and retreated. TAPAGE was five wide into the first turn, was four wide into the backstretch while racing in the middle of the pack but gave way. INTIMIDATION was forwardly placed around the first turn from the three path and dropped back. JOCKEY OBJECTION, JOCKEY OF PIPES AND DRUMS CLAIMED FOUL AGAINST THE JOCKEY OF MEXICAN WONDER BOY FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE IN DEEP STRETCH, AFTER A STEWARDS REVIEW THE CLAIM OF FOUL WAS DISALLOWED AND NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
