Chart notes
GOLDEN KEY cleared the field and angled to the inside to rate the pace, came under pressure past the five sixteenths pole, rounded the turn at the rail, dug in under steady encouragement and just lasted. FULLY CONNECTED angled in leaving the chute and gave chase toward the inside, rounded the turn near the rail, finished well and just missed. COWBOY AT HEART chased through the backstretch, raced in the three path on the turn, was carried out leaving the turn, dug in under steady handling and just lasted for third. FREE DANCER steadied off the inside flank of Fully Connected leaving the chute then gave chase, rounded the turn in the four path, dug in from the head of the lane and just missed third. E J'S REVENGE chased the pace, raced in the three and four paths of the turn, left the turn outside and finished well. MACY'S BOY gave chase through the backstretch, rounded the turn off the rail then weakened inside the eighth pole. After reviewing a claim of foul against the rider of Golden Key for an alleged foul leaving the chute, lodged by the rider of Free Dancer, the Stewards disqualified Fully Connected to fourth place for the above mentioned foul.
