Chart notes
TROJAN WAY sped clear and steered to the inside, pressured from outside up the backstretch, headed by SWEET HEIDELBERG on the far turn, lost the lead with a quarter mile remaining, fought back from inside through the lane, regained command in the final sixteenth and inched ahead. SWEET HEIDELBERG was a bit fractious in the gate, stalked two wide early then went up to apply pressure up the backstretch, headed TROJAN WAY on the far turn, took at the quarter pole, carried a short lead into the final furlong but got outfinished in the final sixteenth. LUCY L was rank chasing along the rail on the first turn, went two then three wide on the second bend, failed to make any headway on the top pair but was well clear of the next rival. GLORY OF CHROME tracked three wide early then dropped back and raced outside a rival at the back, continued three wide through the second bend and could not rally. DISTORTED QUEEN lost her footing in the hind-quarters at the start and trailed into the first turn, pulled while trying to be reserved around the bend, saved ground at the back and weakened in the drive.
