Chart notes
PERFECT COME BACK lacked early speed, saved ground through the second turn, offered a bid nearing the three-sixteenths pole, vied with WILLY THE COBBLER and proved best through a prolonged drive. WILLY THE COBBLER settled off the leaders early, moved five-wide through the second turn, reached the fore with a quarter to run, responded when challenged by the winner nearing the three-sixteenths marker, vied and just missed. MAD LUTHER raced four-wide through the first turn, lagged early, moved three-wide through the second turn, angled out further in mid-stretch and finished with a belated bid. SIR DEPUTY was forwardly placed early, moved three-wide through the second turn, angled out into the stretch and weakened in the drive. DR. TROUTMAN chased the leaders while racing three-wide, moved up to engage nearing the half and weakened after going a half. PROVOST broke sharply to open a clear lead before going a quarter and weakened after going six furlongs.
