Chart notes
ZESTFUL was reserved just off the leaders early, moved up four-wide to offer a bid nearing the quarter, vied with THE BLACK STRAT and drew off through the final sixteenth. GRAY MAGICIAN was never far back, raced three-wide through the second turn, angled out further into the lane and finished well to gain the place. THE BLACK STRAT broke sharply to duel for the lead from the inside and gave way through the final sixteenth. SHINNY was off slow, lagged early, raced five-wide through the second turn, angled out further approaching the stretch, angled inside with a furlong to run and did not menace. CONVENTION raced four-wide through the first turn, lacked early speed, raced five-wide through the second turn, angled inward in mid-stretch and did not threaten. ASTRONOMICAL was away alertly to duel for the lead while racing three-wide and weakened after going three-quarters.
