FORTY COMETS set the pace on the inside, shook free on the turn, responded when roused, pulled away, widened under urging and coasted the final yards. HOMETOWN HERO stalked close up two wide early, chased the winner on the turn, dug in through the lane and held on for the place spot. BIRD RULER chased on the inside, chased on the turn, then closed mildly inside in the stretch run. BOKERMIN chased outside, chased on the turn and tired. DON'T RECALL raced two wide off the pace and did not factor. EXPLAIN raced off the pace inside and was outrun.
