SNAKE ISLAND was forwardly placed into the first turn, raced four wide into the backstretch run, was well placed to the half-mile marker, advanced three wide nearing the top of the lane, came four wide into the stretch, closed well nearing the furlong marker, rallied determinedly in deep stretch, overtook LIBERTY WOLF in the final strides and held over the oncoming runner-up to prevail. STRAMA was allowed to settle in the early stages, raced two wide into the far turn, swung widest into the stretch, mounted a five wide bid at the top of the lane, found his best stride late, came within aim in deep stretch and just missed for the win, while getting up in time for the place. LIBERTY WOLF took back off of the early pace, raced three wide into the backstretch run, maintained position to the far turn, was asked for run four wide into the stretch, vied for the lead at mid-stretch, took command into the final furlong, kept to task while under firm urging to deep stretch, was all out to hold off of the oncoming top pair in the late stages, was caught in the final strides and was clear for third in the end. ONE BIG SMILE was prominent into the first turn, stalked the moderate fractions through the backstretch run, took command while three wide in upper stretch, held a narrow lead at the furlong grounds, could not keep pace in deep stretch and weakened late. MR MAKUNOUCHI hesitated at the start and was off slowly, lacked early speed along the first turn, improved position along the backstretch run, advanced two wide on the second turn, came in tight nearing the quarter marker, raced three wide into the stretch, lost position at mid-stretch and gave way in the final stages. DADDY'SDARLINGBOY was a bit keen while forwardly placed in the early going, stalked the moderate pace through the backstretch run and into the far turn, saved ground to the quarter marker, lost position heading to the furlong marker and tired in the late stages. CRAWLINGBACKTOYOU was sent to establish the early lead, set moderate fractions through the backstretch run, held foes at bay to the quarter marker, was overtaken leaving the second turn and faded in the drive.
