Chart notes
CONNORS OUTLAW stalked the pacesetter from outside going three wide on the turn, took over outside the five-sixteenths, kicked clear under urging and was kept to the task. MONET'S DEVIL tracked in behind, switched out from two to four wide about the five-sixteenths, swung six deep turning for home, ran on to gain the place. MISTER WAYSIDE stalked from outside going four wide on the turn, was five wide in upper stretch, ran on but lost place late. WEST TEXAS RAIN set the pace racing in the two path, weakened. SHELL SHOCKER tracked inside early, switched out on the turn, came into upper stretch four deep, needed more. GUNNER PAUL raced near the rail, failed to threaten. MAGIC CARPET was outpaced and never near enough to threaten.
