Chart notes
HARDSCRABBLE showed good early speed to set the pace, drifted wide turning for home, responded when asked, turned back a bid from CHIEF ENGINEER and drew clear late, driving. RECKLESS PLACE chased two wide, rallied between horses in the stretch run, dug in gamely and got the nod for second. FITTS chased on the inside, rallied on the rail in the stretch drive and just missed for the place spot. CHIEF ENGINEER stalked the pacesetter, bid midway on the turn, dug in gamely outside in upper stretch, then was outkicked for the minor placings in deep stretch. JEST ABOVE raced off the pace inside, came three wide into the lane and finished evenly. MY EAGLE SOARS raced off the pace inside, rode the rail in the stretch and lacked a rally. HOLY CITY raced off the pace between rivals, came four wide into the lane and had no rally. FLATTER ME raced three wide off the pace, continued three or four wide on the turn, came five wide into the lane and failed to threaten. SECRET THUNDER was off slowly and outrun. GOLDEN TALENT raced off the pace between rivals and did not factor. TIEMPO PERFECTO raced three wide off the pace and faded.
