VESPUCCI settled off the pace, chased on the turn, rallied four wide into the stretch, ran to the front along with JUST BEAT THE ODDS, then dueled with that rival in the final sixteenth and prevailed inside. JUST BEAT THE ODDS chased four wide early, chased on the turn, rallied five wide into the stretch, closed well outside rivals and dueled with the winner to the finish. ABADIN bobbled at the break and bumped a rival, dueled between rivals in a three way scrimmage, continued to duel on the turn, began to weaken in the lane, drifted in bumping STRAIGHT ARROW near the sixteenth marker and held for third. DUKE OF GLOUCESTER broke inward, dueled three wide for command, dueled on the turn and weakened. STRAIGHT ARROW was bumped at the start, dueled inside for the lead, dueled on the turn, weakened, then was bumped and in tight at the sixteenth marker. ROMPING RUNNER chased on the inside, chased on the turn and tired. NO QUIT chased three wide, gave way and stopped. After a Stewards' Inquiry into the stretch run, the race was declared official.
