Chart notes
COMMANDING GENERAL showed good speed outside, dueled with SHIELD OF FAITH on the turn, led into the stretch, responded when roused, kicked clear and widened under urging. CAMPTOWN RACES chased on the inside, rallied on the rail in the stretch run and finished well for second. J WASS chased three wide, moved up four wide at the quarter pole, rallied outside in upper stretch, then was outkicked for the place spot. CACTUS JACK trailed the field, moved up inside in upper stretch and closed belatedly in the two path. IN THE LOOP chased between rivals early on, chased on the turn, came three wide into the stretch and lacked a rally. SHIELD OF FAITH set the pace on the inside, dueled on the turn and faded.
