BAYOU SARGE settled on the rail and raced mid pack, inched into a stalking position willingly and in hands with another horse on the outside, quietly stayed on the rail, improved position through the turn was encouraged and willingly closed up the rail, collared the early leaders after the sixteenth pole and kept on and kicked clear for the win in the last few strides. MR. TIN MAN was three wide and stalking the early leader, was racing next to an inside foe, was joined by another competitor and raced between horsed at the half mile marker, launched a bid at the three eighths pole, was baled to get the lead at the sixteenth pole, was collared by a fast closing rival and had to settle for second place. WESTERN STAR hopped a bit at the start, was off slow, found his stride by the six furlong pole, raced in the three path and gained ground, split horsed and raced in between rivals at the half mile pole, shifted into the four path entering the lane and closed down the lane. THROWIN' SHADE vied for the lead, raced along the rail, attended the pace, with pressure from outside rivals, showed the way until the stretch, then tired late. GENERAL EISENHOWER was four wide, raced from off the pace but had no rally. CHIEFWEAVE stalked the early pace setter while racing in the four path, launched a bid at the five sixteenth pole, drew next to the early leader, matched strides and battled briefly then tired in the stretch.
